Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 8, 2026
1. What we collect
Account information (name, email, phone), government ID data collected by Stripe Identity on our behalf, listing and rental history, messages between Owners and Renters, payment metadata from Stripe, device/IP logs, and cookies used to keep you signed in.
2. How we use it
To operate the marketplace, verify identity, process payments, prevent fraud, respond to disputes, comply with law, and improve the product. We do not sell personal information.
3. Identity verification
Government ID images and selfie scans are submitted directly to Stripe Identity. NeighborRent receives only the verification result (verified / requires input / canceled) and a session ID — we do not store ID document images on our servers.
4. Sharing
We share limited information with Owners/Renters you transact with (first name, profile photo, verified status), with Stripe for payments and identity, with Supabase for hosted database and auth, and with law enforcement when legally compelled.
5. Retention
Account and transaction records are retained for as long as your account is active and for up to 7 years after closure to comply with tax and financial recordkeeping laws. You may request deletion of non-required data at any time.
6. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing privacy@neighborrent.com. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA; we will honor verified requests within 45 days.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to a small number of administrators and logged. No system is perfectly secure; report vulnerabilities to security@neighborrent.com.
