Peer-to-Peer Rental Agreement

1. Parties
This Agreement is between the Owner listing an item on NeighborRent Rental ("Owner") and the Renter booking that item ("Renter"). NeighborRent is not a party to this Agreement and is not responsible for the condition, safety, or legality of the item.
2. Rental Period & Return
The rental begins at the pickup time confirmed in the booking and ends at the return time confirmed in the booking. Late returns accrue an additional day's rate per 24-hour period or fraction thereof, deducted from the security deposit.
3. Condition & Inspection
The Owner shall deliver the item in the condition advertised. Renter and Owner will jointly photograph the item at pickup and return; these photos are the authoritative record of condition for damage-claim purposes.
4. Renter Responsibilities
Renter is financially responsible for the item while in Renter's possession, including loss, theft, accidental damage, and damage caused by misuse or negligence. Renter shall use the item only for its intended purpose and only in compliance with all applicable laws.
5. Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit in the amount stated in the listing is authorized on the Renter's card at booking. The deposit is released after the Owner confirms the item has been returned in its pre-rental condition, minus any documented damage, cleaning, or late fees.
6. No Insurance
NeighborRent does not provide insurance coverage for this rental.Each party is encouraged to verify that their personal homeowner's, renter's, or commercial insurance policy covers peer-to-peer rental of the item before entering into this Agreement.
7. Prohibited Use
Renter shall not (a) sublet the item, (b) use the item for commercial resale, (c) transport the item outside the state without written permission, (d) use the item in the commission of a crime, or (e) allow any person who has not verified their identity on NeighborRent to operate the item.
8. Disputes
Disputes arising out of this Agreement shall first be submitted through the NeighborRent dispute flow. If unresolved after 14 days, either party may escalate to small-claims court in the county of the item's pickup location.
9. Acceptance
By confirming a booking on NeighborRent, both Owner and Renter electronically agree to this Rental Agreement as it reads at the time the booking is confirmed.
