1. About NeighborRent

NeighborRent ("NeighborRent," "we," "us") operates an online marketplace that enables independent individuals ("Owners") to list physical goods for short-term rental to other independent individuals ("Renters"). NeighborRentis not a party to any rental transaction. We do not own, store, inspect, transport, or insure the goods listed on the platform.

2. Eligibility & Verification

You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter into a binding contract, and a resident of the United States to use NeighborRent. Before booking a rental or listing an item, you must complete identity verification using a government-issued photo ID through our identity provider (Stripe Identity).

3. Rental Transactions

Each rental is a direct agreement between the Renter and the Owner, governed by the NeighborRent Rental Agreement. NeighborRentfacilitates payment, messaging, and dispute routing, but NeighborRentis not liable for damage, loss, injury, or failure of any item. Renters are financially responsible for items in their possession.

4. Fees & Payments

NeighborRentcharges a service fee on each completed booking (currently 15% of the rental subtotal). Payment is processed by Stripe and held until the rental period begins. Refundable security deposits are authorized on the Renter's card and released upon inspection.

5. Prohibited Items & Uses

You may not list firearms, ammunition, motor vehicles requiring registration, aircraft, watercraft above 25 feet, illegal substances, or any item whose rental is restricted by federal, state, or local law. You may not use rented items for commercial resale, criminal activity, or in violation of the Owner's stated terms.

6. Insurance Disclaimer

NeighborRentdoes not currently provide insurance coverage for rentals.Protection on each rental is limited to the refundable security deposit set by the Owner and any independent insurance held by the Owner or Renter. Users are strongly encouraged to verify that their homeowner's, renter's, or commercial insurance policy covers peer-to-peer rentals before transacting.

7. Disputes

Disputes between Owners and Renters must first be raised through the NeighborRentdispute flow. NeighborRentwill make good-faith efforts to mediate but is not obligated to make any party whole. Unresolved disputes may be escalated to small-claims court in the county of the Owner's listed market.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NeighborRent's total liability arising out of or related to these Terms, the platform, or any transaction shall not exceed the greater of (a) the service fees NeighborRenthas collected from you in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100.
